Things to Do in Katikati

• Matakana Island
  A wildlife refuge on the seaward side of Tauranga Harbour, with an impressive 24km white sand beach. There is good surfing, windsurfing, kayaking and fishing. Day trips depart from Omokoroa, situated midway between Katikati and Tauranga.
• Katikati Murals
  The township's colourful murals depict scenes from the region's history. A brochure explaining the murals can be picked up from the Mural Town Visitor Centre.
• Morton Estate Winery
  Located 8km south of Katikati, Morton is one of the country's bigger estates. It's open daily for cellar door sales and wine tasting.
• Sapphire Springs
  These natural thermal pools are located at the Sapphire Springs Holiday Park and are free to visitors.
• Katikati Bird Gardens
  Native and exotic birds in enclosed and free-range environments. Open daily. Weekends and school holidays only during June July and August.
• Adventure
  There are scenic flights, skydiving and gliding from Tauranga airport, east of the town.
