Things to Do in Lake Ferry

• Adventure activities
  There are plenty of activities to keep you busy throughout your stay. These include 4WD, abseiling, clay bird shooting, caving, horse riding, hang gliding, jetboating, mountain biking and windsurfing.
• Fishing
  There is excellent sea, river and lake fishing nearby. The coastline is extensive and strong ocean currents bring lots of food to shore, meaning there's a wide variety of fish to catch.
• Golf
  There is a good 18-hole golf course located just out of Featherston, north of Lake Ferry. And there is a nine-hole course at Ngawi.
• Birdwatching
  Go for a stroll around Lake Wairarapa and you will come across a large variety of birdlife.
• Cape Palliser
  The water around Cape Palliser is beautiful and this is a good spot to go diving or snorkelling. Here you'll find crayfish and many different types of fish. This is also the North Island's largest breeding area of New Zealand fur seals. Climb the steps to the lighthouse and you'll have amazing views of the coastline and the South Island.
• Putangirua Pinnacles
  These pinnacles, just south of Lake Ferry, have been formed over 120,000 years into pipe shaped towers by heavy rain eroding an ancient gravel deposit.
• Surfing
  There are good surfing spots to be found at Ngawi and Tora.
• Hunting
  You can find red deer, possums, goats and pigs in the mountains. A permit from DoC is required.
• Wellington
