Welcome to a southern High Country experience.

Nokomai is a large High Country sheep and cattle station located one hour south of Queenstown in northern Southland. It is well known for its farming and goldmining history. On the south end of the property, the Mataura River runs for 20km through the Nokomai Gorge with amazing brown trout fishing.

It is home to Nokomai Valley Accommodation, set up for visitors to stay and enjoy what we have to offer. If the following appeals, then come and visit:

Stay in one of four comfortable one and two bedroom cottages, set up for self catering or have your meals provided. The cottages are serviced daily and have their own laundry facilities. Our main attraction is the Mataura River with its fly fishing. You can fish and gain local knowledge with one of our experienced friendly guides or fish on your own.

Nokomai is a working station with the usual seasonal farm activities around you. Other things to do: biking/hiking on our trails, NZ golf game GolfCross course, onsite helicopter tours (including Fiordland, Milford Sound or the popular half-hour overview of Nokomai Station). Nokomai Helicopters is the way to go!

We are also a good base to explore the southern region, visits for shopping or sightseeing to Invercargill, Queenstown, Milford or Doubtful Sound. Where requested, we can provide assistance for further travel planning or any special interests. We also encourage you to sit back, relax and let the world float by.
