Things to Do in Methven

• Mt Hutt Ski Area
  Rated as one of the best ski areas in the Southern Hemisphere, Mt Hutt is famous for its six-month ski season (May-October) - one of the longest in New Zealand. There are beginner, intermediate and advanced slopes, and good snowboarding on the wide, open slopes. Shuttles run to the ski area from May to October.
• Mt Hutt Forest
  14km west of Methven, the forest contains some good walking tracks. Adjoining are the Pudding Hill and Awa Awa Rata Reserves, which have walking trails through a variety of vegetation. These include the Pudding Hill Stream walk (2.5 hours) and the Awa Awa Rata Reserve Loop Track (1.5 hours)
