Miranda is a rural farming community lying about an hour's drive from
Auckland and 20 minutes from
Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula. The big attraction here is the hot springs pool complex which is open daily to the public. There are attractive picnic spots for pool patrons.
The area is also particularly popular with birdwatchers, due to its proximity to the Firth of Thames. This wetland attracts thousands of migratory birds and waders to its rich tidal mudflats, including arctic shorebirds. There is also a cheese factory offering tastings and sales.
