Motueka Travel Guide

Motueka accommodation, Motueka activities and attractions, Motueka maps, transportation to and around Motueka - the ALL NEW Jasons Motueka Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Motueka.

Cradled between the Mount Arthur Range and Tasman Bay, Motueka is a popular stop for walkers en route to Abel Tasman National Park. The park lies 18km to the north, with its beautiful beaches, native forest, and hiking and sea kayaking opportunities. Located in the fruit belt of Nelson, the mild and sunny climate makes the area ideal for horticulture with grapes, apples, hops and kiwifruit grown locally.

Motueka has a strong arts community and its galleries and studios are popular with visitors. There are wineries nearby and the town is close to several sandy beaches, including Kaiteriteri, with its stretch of golden sand. Trout fishing is good in the Motueka and Riwaka Rivers, with sea fishing along the coast and whitewater rafting on the Buller, Motueka and Gowan Rivers. The town is also handy to Kahurangi National Park, where walkers can explore tracks leading from the river valleys to the mountaintops.
