Things to Do in Ngunguru

• The River
  Head to the river to play on the water or enjoy a quiet picnic on the river's banks. The river is popular for boating, kayaking, swimming and windsurfing.
• Tutukaka
  Tutukaka nestles at the head of sheltered Tutukaka Harbour. The town is the base for gamefishing, diving and scenic cruises and has beautiful beaches bordered by pohutakawa trees.
• Diving
  Head to Tutukaka and take a charter to dive the Poor Knight's Islands.
• Golf
  The local nine-hole golf course is only 100m from the beach and has amazing coastal views. There are other courses nearby at Hikurangi and Whangarei.
• Poor Knights Islands
  These islands are wildlife and marine reserves with restrictions on fishing, diving and landing.
• Reed Memorial Kauri Park
  This park, 2km from Whangarei on the Ngunguru road, is notable for its giant kauri trees and a beautiful waterfall.
• Whangarei Falls
  Located 6kms from Whangarei on the Ngunguru road are the 24m high Whangarei Falls.
