Things to Do in Omarama

• Ohau Ski Area
  Located on Mount Sutton, Ohau boasts the longest T-Bar lift in the country. There are excellent intermediate and advanced runs, as well as snowboarding and cross country skiing.
• Black Stilts
  The black stilt breeding centre at Twizel (28km north of Omarama) makes an interesting excursion from the township. There are only 120 birds of this endangered species remaining. A hide allows visitors to watch the birds without disturbing them. Tours to the centre leave from the Twizel Visitor Information Centre daily.
• Ohau Forests
  There are numerous lovely walks in this vast forest area. Adventurous hikers can stay at some of the many huts scattered throughout the region.
• Salmon Farms
  In the MacKenzie Basin Hydro Canals that feed the hydro-electric power stations, you'll find salmon farms. Catch yourself a fresh fish and eat it for dinner.
