Things to Do in Paparoa

• Golf
  The local golf course has nine holes and gentle rolling contours.
• Matakohe
  Matakohe has a number of historic houses still in use which add to its colonial charm and climbing peaks, bush reserves, local beaches and the northern Wairoa River are all within easy reach.
• The Kauri Museum
  This award-winning museum contains authentic exhibits portraying scenes of how people lived, worked and relaxed in the kauri timber and gum era. There is a huge collection of kauri gum and photographs, and displays include mock-ups of kauri dams, wooden sleds and bullock trains.
• Walk
  The Kauri Bushman's walk is a 15 minute loop between Matakohe and Paparoa. It is a gentle, short kauri forest walk and is a good chance to experience the local area.
