Things to Do in Paraparaumu

• Lindale Centre
  Just north of Paraparaumu the centre has a farm park and specialty boutique shops selling products including Kapiti cheese and ice-cream (made on the premises) and crafts.
• Southwards Vintage Car Museum
  Located on Otaihanga Road, the museum has the largest private collection of vintage cars in the Southern Hemisphere. Cars on display include Marlene Dietrich's Rolls Royce and a Chicago gangster's armour-plated limo.
• Nikau Gardens
  These local gardens feature native coastal rainforest and bushwalks, as well as a special butterfly enclosure with hundreds of native species.
• Nga Manu Sanctuary
  A 15ha sanctuary of wetlands and bush, including a kiwi house, native plant museum and fernery.
• Kapiti Island
  This world renowned wildlife sanctuary off the Kapiti Coast is a home for endangered native species such as the little spotted kiwi and saddleback. Tours are available, or a visitor's permit can be purchased from the Department of Conservation in Wellington.
• Tararua Forest Park
  This lovely park has swimming, picnic and camping areas and a range of walks through beautiful virgin forest. A resident conservation officer has information about walks in the area, which range from easy family tracks to challenging multi-day hikes.
