  • Pancake Rocks
These limestone rocks have been eroded by the elements to resemble stacks of giant pancakes. At high tide, the sea rushes into vast underground caverns beneath the rocks, creating spectacular blowholes. A 15 minute loop walks encircles the rocks. High tide is the best time to witness the blowholes in action.
  • Westland National Park
This wilderness area encompasses the rugged Paparoa Range, and is known for its bush-clad mountains, wild rivers, cliffs, caves and historic goldmining sites. The rare Westland black petrel also nests here.
  • Walks
Walks within the park include the Inland Pack Track (30km, 2 days) which follows an early goldmining track, and the Croesus Track (1-2 days) over the Paparoa Range to Barrytown. The visitor centre has details of the many tracks, including shorter river and coastal walks.
