Shotover Canyon Swing is a 60m freefall into a spectacular river gorge before the ropes smoothly pendulum you into a giant 200m arc at speeds of up to 150kph. Travel 15min from Queenstown in one of our 4WD vehicles, take an easy 3min bushwalk to our private site - a purpose built cliff-mounted platform on the edge of a cliff, 109m above the Shotover River. Standing on the platform you will see the cables running from cliff to cliff over the river - this is the pivot point for the pendulum. From the middle of the cables 2 ropes run back to the platform to be attached to your harness - you act as the end of the pendulum! After a safety briefing you're led to the platform, fitted into a full body harness then attached to the twin rope swinging system. It's then over to you to jump or be released from our unique suspension boom into the unknown. The beauty of the swing is that you can jump off any way you like. We have well over 10 jump styles available and many more up our sleeve for special occasions - our jump staff are only too willing to help with your choice! Once you depart the platform you freefall 60m down into the canyon until the ropes smoothly swing you into a giant 200m arc. You will then complete a couple of massive swings before you slowly come to rest approximately 100m below the departure platform. We then winch you swiftly back up to the platform with a huge smile on your face and a memory you will not forget in a hurry. When you get back to the platform you have the choice of doing more jumps. Gravity is a toy, come out and play! Transport: check in to the shop, 37 Shotover Street, 15min before your trip time. From there we will take you in one of our 4WD vans out to the canyon swing - there is no public access to our site. Dress appropriately (a change of underwear is recommended). Restrictions: age 10yrs up (parental/guardian consent required for anyone under 18yrs); weight 135kg. First jump $169, extra jumps $49; spectator $29 per person (rates valid from 1 October 2007 to 30 September 2008)
