Things to Do in Raumati Beach

• Kapiti Island
  This world renowned bird sanctuary is a refuge for endangered native birdlife such as weka, kaka (bush parrots), tui, fantails and bellbirds. There are several lovely walking tracks, two of which lead to the island's highest point (521m). Surrounding the island is a marine reserve which contains orange and yellow sponges, and ocean fish such as moki and kingfish.
• Nga Manu Sanctuary
  This bird sanctuary at nearby Waikanae features walking tracks, picnic spots and swamp and coastal forest. A nocturnal house contains kiwi, morepork and tuatara.
• Lindale Farm Centre
  Stop and sample the delicious Kapiti cheeses and ice-cream, which are made on the premises.
• Southward Car Museum
  An extensive collection of vintage cars including Marlene Dietrich's Rolls-Royce and a Chicago gangster's armour-plated Cadillac.
