Located on the southern side of the
Hokianga Harbour, Rawene is an old loggers' settlement in a very pretty spot. As you come towards Rawene you will see hills rolling into the distance and the harbour sparkling to the side. The town was built in the early settler period and has proudly maintained the historical buildings. Some are open to the public and it's a good idea to go through and explore the history of the area.
