Ross Travel Guide
Ross accommodation, Ross activities and attractions, Ross maps, transportation to and around Ross - the ALL NEW Jasons Ross Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Ross.
Ross is a tiny goldmining town with a population of just 300 people, 28km south-west of
Hokitika. In 1909 the largest gold nugget - 2807gm - in New Zealand was found in Jones Creek. Nowadays, you can view the modern working gold mine and can even pan for gold. There are historic mining sites, tunnels and mining equipment which will give you an insight into how people worked in the mines in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The town is surrounded by forrest and there are various walks to enjoy, some of which will give you a nice view of the town and the wild
West Coast sea. As well as giving you a glimpse of the true West Coast lifestyle, you can enjoy kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, hiking and fishing during a trip to Ross.
