A region rich in Maori and European history, Taranaki takes its name from the majestic
Mount Taranaki/Egmont, which towers 2518m above
Egmont National Park. The park provides many scenic and action activities in a region renowned for its surf beaches and verdant farmland.
New Plymouth, Taranaki's largest city, is adorned with many lovely gardens and parks.
