Ideal for individuals and groups. Walk through Fiordland National Park (part of Te Waihipounamu - South-west New Zealand World Heritage area).
Highlights include alpine herb fields, glacial valleys, beech forests, waterfalls, crystal clear rivers and towering mountains.
A reasonable standard of fitness is required. Walkers need to carry all their own food, equipment, good wet-weather clothing, cooking and eating utensils. Huts have gas cooking rings, mattresses, flush toilets and cold water. Transport services available to all three tracks. No guided or commercial parties are permitted on independent walks. 2008-2009 season: 28 October 2008 to 29 April 2009, bookings open 15 July each year for the coming season; bookings are non-commissionable.
Milford Track: 4 day/3 night package (hut accommodation only).
Routeburn Track: 2-3 night packages (hut and limited camping).
Kepler Track: 2 or 3 night packages (huts and limited camping).
