Things to Do in Tokomaru

• Palmerston North
  Scenic valleys, spectacular gorges, pastoral farmland and the coastal beaches of the Manawatu region surround the lower North Island's largest provincial city.
• Shannon
  This small town services the surrounding farming community. It developed along with the flax and hydro industries and has a unique colonial look as well as strong Maori culture.
• Foxton
  Sitting on a coastal plain west of Tokomaru, Foxton is part of the Horowhenua district, known for its mild climate and market gardens. The town was once New Zealand’s flax-stripping capital and has the country’s only working flax-stripping museum, as well as a full-size working windmill.
• The Rangitikei
  The Rangitikei District is beautiful and relatively unspoilt. The Rangitikei River is a good spot for swimming, trout fishing and kayaking. You can also head to the coast for more fishing spots and a safe swimming beach.
