Waiwera Travel Guide

Waiwera accommodation, Waiwera activities and attractions, Waiwera maps, transportation to and around Waiwera - the ALL NEW Jasons Waiwera Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Waiwera.

Located 30 minutes north of Auckland on the Hibiscus Coast, Waiwera sits in a valley adjacent to a lovely sandy beach, and is surrounded by native bush and coastal beach walks.

The town's Maori name translates as 'warm waters', and its reputation as a thermal resort goes back to 1870 when Aucklanders first came to bathe in its restorative waters. Today, the resort's naturally heated mineral pools remain a drawcard for the many visitors who come to enjoy a relaxing soak. Activities in the surrounding area including canoeing and kayaking, gamefishing, bushwalks and horse riding. Just north of Waiwera is beautiful Wenderhom Regional Park, which has a sandy beach, barbecue and picnic spots, bushwalks and historic Couldrey House. Or visit the old Bohemian settlement of Puhoi, with its colonial pub and the Puhoi cheese factory.
