Queenstown, Cardrona Alpine Resort is renowned for its open runs and dry, soft snow. Highlights include the Monster halfpipe and the terrain park trails, which have some fun jumps and rail features. There are slopes for beginners, wide open groomed slopes for intermediates, chutes for the advanced and an extensive terrain park for freestylers. A new trail down the Arcadia Basin will suit the more advanced skiers and boarders. The resort's recent multi-million-dollar refit also installed new snowmaking guns and a high-speed detachable quad chairlift, which cuts the lift journey time by almost two thirds.
