Tranz Metro is offering Wellington commuters a text messaging service, Metro Alert, that will inform subscribers of delays of over 15 minutes on a line. This free service is available to all customers with a text capable mobile phone. Customers can choose from two types of Metro Alert service; one that informs them of all delays on a line or one that only advises of delays during the morning and evening peaks (5.30am - 9.00am and 4.30pm - 6.30pm Monday to Friday).
