Papua New Guinea boasts some of the largest and most impressive waterways in the world. If you want to spend time on a river, there are plenty of options - from traditional or motorised canoes to chartered boats and cruise ships with all the mod cons.

The upmarket Sepik Spirit travels the waterways of the Sepik River (East Sepik Province), taking in the seldom visited Middle Sepik and Blackwater Lake areas. Often compared to the Amazon and Congo Rivers, the Sepik River is flanked by pristine rainforest filled with native flora and fauna. The Sepik Basin is one of Papua New Guinea's cultural storehouses, and a rich variety of tribal arts and traditional cultures flourish in this diverse region.
