  • Ekasup Cultural Village
    Just 5km to the east of Port Vila, this village allows visitors to experience local foods, dances and Sailing © John Nichollstraditions in a specially created Melanesian village.
  • Michoutouchkine & Pilioko Foundation Art Gallery
    Named after its two resident artists, the gallery is en route to Pango village. There is an interesting collection of Pacific memorabilia, including ornate carvings and masks from southern Malakula. Visitors can also explore the lovely garden. Entry is free.
  • Sailing
    Sailing cruises head out to beautiful Havannah Harbour and beyond to explore Efate's offshore islands.
  • Hideaway Island (Mele)
    Just off Mele Beach (9.5km from Port Vila), the resort has the best snorkelling around Port Vila, with a myriad of bright tropical fish. The surrounding reef area is a marine reserve. Snorkelling gear can be hired at the dive shop and there are glass-bottom boat tours over the reef. You can also post your letters at the world's first Underwater Fishing Trip © John NichollsPost office. A free ferry connects Mele to the mainland. An entrance fee is charged.
  • Mele-Maat Cascades
    This impressive 20m waterfall is located at the bottom of Klem’s Hill. Visitors can stroll up to the falls through the lush tropical bush of the cascade Botanical Garden. There are some good natural swimming pools. Entry charged.
  • Fishing
    Charters will take you out beyond Port Vila's reefs for deep sea fishing - catches include marlin, wahoo, mahi mahi and giant trevally.
  • Diving
    Beyond Port Vila there is access to a full range of dive spots, including World War II wrecks, coral gardens, caves, chasms, drop-offs and Snorkelling © John Nichollswalls. There are several scuba sites close to Port Vila, including the wreck of the Star of Russia.
  • Snorkelling
    There is excellent snorkelling in the waters around Port Vila. Easily accessible spots just beyond Port Vila include Hideaway Island Marine Reserve, Erakor Island, Hat Island, Nguna-Pele Marine Conservation and Tranquillity Island. Boat tours cater for snorkellers and you can usually accompany a scuba group.
