Port Vila Market
Located in downtown Port Vila near the Post Office, and open Monday to Saturday. Ni-Vanuatu women in their brightly coloured ‘Mother Hubbard’ dresses sell fresh local fruit and vegetables from Efate’s many villages. There is also a wonderful array of shells, bead necklaces, anklets and island dresses. The busiest day is Saturday.
- Iririki Island
This tiny islet just 300m from Port Vila is linked to the mainland
by a free ferry. A short 30min walk leads around Iririki through lush tropical bush, and there are windsurfers and pedal boats for hire at the small beach south of the resort. There are superb views back to Port Vila.
- National Culture Centre
On Rue d'Artois, the centre contains a range of cultural artefacts, ceremonia head-dresses and traditional pottery.
- Golf
Port Vila has three main golf courses. The Port Vila Country Club has an 18-hole course. The beach, clubhouse and bar and is located at Mele Bay, 8.4km from Port Vila. The other golf courses are at Le Meridien and Le Lagon Resort Vanuatu.
- Sailing
Half and full-day trips leave from Port Vila offering sightseeing, swimming, snorkelling, picnicking and exploring caves while multi-day trips visit some of
the outer islands and the surrounding dive spots.
- Fishing
There is superb fishing for the enthusiast and amateur alike, with catches of marlin, wahoo, mahi mahi and giant trevally. Deep sea and game fishing charters can be arranged at Port Vila's waterfront. Reef fishing is also available.
- Diving
Port Vila has some of the most accessible dive sites in the South Pacific, with a host of wrecks to explore, including the Tasman Flying Boat, the sailing ship Star of Russia and the trading vessel Konanda. Further out in the bay are Semle Federeson and the Cathedral on the tip of Pango Point. Diving charters operate out of the city.

Options include city and round-island tours, yacht cruises and glass-bottom boat trips, cultural tours featuring a traditional feast and kastom dancing, and bushwalking, flightseeing, river, village and eco tours.
