Activities in Vanuatu

• Golf
  There are four main golf courses on Efate. The Port Vila Golf & Country Club is just 10 minutes from town, situated on the shore of Mele Bay amid coconut palms. The 18-hole course is complete with a beach, clubhouse and bar. The other golf courses are at Le Lagon Vanuatu Resort and Le Meridien (for in-house guests only), and at the Whitesands Country Club.
• Horse riding
  There are two horse trek operators offering rides through tropical rainforest and coconut plantations. Club Hippique at Second Lagoon and Sea Horse Ranch at Mele Bay, both on the outskirts of Port Vila. Tanna also offers horse riding – see your hotel reception.
• Hiking & Walking
  Numerous bushwalking tours are available, from short walks to extended treks, but the vast majority of these are on outer islands. On Efate, treks range from 1-3 days. Ambrym Volcano walks can be arranged either from Lalinda in the south, or Ranon in the north. This is said to be one of the greatest walks in the South Pacific. Most Island Bungalows also have guided walks on offer. There are bush treks through the Vatthe Conservation area, and Meteson’s Guesthouse in Erromango has treks through the Happy Land kauri reserve. • Scooters
  Nautilus and Mirage Line in Vila are the only two companies that rent one and two person motor scooter. The scooters can go as far as the Mele Cascade waterfalls and heading east as far as Rentabau river. Be certain to book one as early as possible when the Cruise ship is in.
• Movie Theatres
  The Cine Hickson next to the Melanesian Port Vila resort shows French language and subtitled films nightly except Thursdays. Club Vanuatu also runs film nights.
• Sports
  The two main stadiums in Central Port Vila are The Municipal Stadium (known as Stade) and Korman’s Stadium. This is Vanuatu’s newest sporting complex built in 1993 for the South Pacific Mini Games. Both stadiums have facilities for netball, volleyball, handball, soccer and rugby union football, athletics and basketball, as well as a gymnasium centre. Programmes can be obtained from the department of Youth & Sports at the Independence Park. There is also international sports coverage on the big screens at Trader Vics, Anchor Inn, Office Pub and Club Vanuatu.
• Tennis
  Cercle Sportif tennis club on Efate has four excellent floodlit courts for hire. Other tennis courts are located at Le Lagon Vanuatu Resort, Le Meridien, The Melanesian Hotel and Whitesands Country Club.
