Things to Do in Fiji

• Viti Levu
  With its beautiful coastline, rainforests, swaying canefields and beachfront resorts, Viti Levu is the largest of Fiji's 332 islands, and boast a great range of activities and accommodation.
• Nadi 
  On the western coast of Viti Levu, Nadi (pronounced 'Nandi') is the bustling gateway to Fiji and home to the international airport. Although smaller than Suva, Nadi is the country's main visitor hub. You'll find a great selection of shops, restaurants and nightlife, as well as sightseeing tours and cruises to the offshore islands.
• Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands
  Just a short distance from Nadi are the beautiful island groups of the Mamanucas (pronounced Mah-mah-noo-tha) and, further north, the Yasawas. The Island resorts and their sandy beaches offer numerous watersports and cruising/boating opportunities.
• Suncoast-Rakiraki
  Two hours north of Lautoka, this unspoilt area combines the lush tropical climate of the east with the sunny climate of the west. As Viti Levu's northermost point, this region enjoys spectacular surises and sunsets.
• Suva
  Fiji’s capital, Suva, is a vibrant, multi-cultural city with plenty of activities, and a great selection of bustling restaurants, nightlife, shopping and markets.
• Pacific Harbour
  Pacific Harbour is a purpose-built visitor destination on the southern coast of Viti Levu, 50km west of Suva. The area is fast becoming known as Fiji's adventure playground. It has an 18-hole championship golf course, luxury villas, an arts village and a host of adventure activities.
• Coral Coast
  The Coral Coast is a popular holiday destination with fabulous beaches - including surf beaches - as well as cultural and historic attractions, and a jetboat safari along Fiji's majestic Sigatoka River.
• Vanua Levu and Taveuni
  The two main islands in the northern group of Fiji hide some of the best dive spots in the world. The resorts here are mostly small and intimate. Taveuni is spectacularly scenic with lush flora and numerous waterfalls, while the southern town of Savusavu is Vanua Levu's main visitor centre. Eco adventures can be enjoyed on these islands.
• Kadavu
  This is the fourth largest island in Fiji, located south of Suva and surrounded by the world-famous Astrolabe Reef. The reef at Kadavu (pronounced kan-davu) is a prime dive site with drop-offs, underwater caves and walls and a rich array of coral and marine life. There are also kayaking safaris.
• Diving and Snorkelling
  Fiji’s islands have some spectacular dive sites. The northern Island of Taveuni Kadavu in the south are particularly well known for their superb underwater landscapes and numerous species of tropical fish. The Beqa Lagoon, offshore of Pacific Harbour, is another world-renowned dive area, and the Yasawa group also has superb diving sites around Tavewa Island.
• Cruising
  With 330 islands, Fiji is fabulous for cruising. Discover deserted beaches and tiny atolls, and visit traditional villages. Take a day cruise or head out for several days and nights.
• Eco Tours
  With large inland areas, tropical rainforests, rivers, waterfalls and variety of flora and fauna, Fiji can offer a range of eco tours which are a complete contrast to the coastal attractions. Overnight treks are a great way to explore Fiji’s highland areas.
• Birdwatching
  Viti Levu, Kadavu and Taveuni are the best places to see some of Fiji's 80 species of land and freshwater birds. The larger birds are easily seen on the main islands, which tend to be more ecologically intact. Twenty-two of the land bird species are endemic. Look out for red and green kula lorikeets which can be seen collecting nectar and pollen in populated areas. The Colo-I-Suva Forest Park in the hills north of Suva is a great place for birdwatchers.
• Surfing
  Fiji’s superb surfing is one of the country’s best kept secrets. Surf spots include Tavarua Island, the Coral Coast and Beqa Island. Boards and accessories can be hired at surf shops in Fiji.
• Fishing
  The game fishing is amazing in Fiji and all types of fish can be found here year round. The biggest event is the annual International Game Fishing Tournament held at Pacific Harbour around August. Big game fish are found off southern Viti Levu. Here, tuna and mahimahi run from January to May, and big wahoos in June and July.
• Firewalking
  This ancient religious ceremony requires great strength and discipline of the mind, body and spirit and participants must observe strict traditional protocol before walking on the red-hot stones. It originated on the island of Beqa.
