Avaiki Cave

Avaiki is where the first canoe landed on the island of Niue, many years ago and so holds historical importance to the people there. Down a short pathway, through a small open cave and across large coral rocks, you’ll stumble upon the reef and ocean off in the distance. Visiting this place at low tide is advised, as just around from the cave you walk in through there is a larger cave with a gorgeous swimming hole. This is completely inaccessible at high tide. Large marble like walls rise up overhead, while turquoise waters teaming with brightly coloured sea life settle below.
